3 September 2010 54 Views No Comment

Fixed-line telephone users will soon have access to all the interesting applications available to mobile subscribers. In a bid to drive revenue from data services on its fixed-line network, Bharti Airtel is working on an application store for its broadband subscribers. The company currently has 3.1 million fixed-line telephone subscribers, of which 1.3 million have broadband connection.
Mr K Srinivas, President, Telemedia Services, Bharti Airtel, told Business Line, “The application store is absolutely relevant for fixed line, just as it is for cellular users. Within the next 6-12 months, we are working on moving a dumb pipe to an enriched pipe. For this, we will work with partners and content owners.” THEHINDUBUSINESSLINE
