Intel Seeks Apps for Atom Gadgets

Apple Inc.’s online application store dominates the smart-phone space, but Intel Corp. sees a chance to use a similar software store to defend an important new market—netbooks.
With its AppUp Center, announced earlier this year and set to be pre-installed on netbooks from several computer makers, Intel is attempting to use the popularity of downloadable applications in smart phones to help take its popular Atom chip into new markets. WALL STREET JOURNAL
